This was an ad for Dick Johnsons “Snake Oil” product.

It was such an interesting project since there wasn’t really a script. There was just a general idea for the video and the client was really into the idea that we should make a “Tiger King” parody trailer. I loved the idea and actually watched the whole series to prepare for the project. I crafted a few ideas and made a treatment for the video and we went and filmed the whole thing with the client.

The whole trailer came to life in the edit. Since this was a parody I took a lot of ideas from the original trailer - the vibe, the title designs, the music and the characters. I also wrote a few extra lines that we sent to a voice actor to record some additional lines in the trailer. I used stock footage in addition to the filmed material and yes, we also had two real snakes on set. I also filmed some B-roll material of the character walking in the city.

Dick Johnson is known for their striking ad campaigns and I think that this idea fit perfectly for this product.
